Tokyo

Tokyo gave me split opinions. I thought the city had lots of life and character but it was all made far too overwhelming by the sheer size and business of the place. With a population of 35 million people - yes, that’s right, 35 million! By comparison, London has 9 million - you need to take Tokyo as being a cluster of large cities all interconnected.

The only way to survive Tokyo is to embrace it full-on

I had the opportunity of seeing the Japanese cosplay craze first hand over Halloween around Shibuya Crossing.

Found Them!

I explored the fish markets that make the Tokyo sushi so legendary.

I saw scantily clad women fight robots over dinner.

Robot Disco

I visited a cat cafe.

And I stayed in a capsule hotel.

All amongst the many other weird and wonderful sights, smells, sounds and tastes. Tokyo was one of those cities that you cannot see in just a few days or even a week. To truly enjoy the culture and the city I think one would have to live there.

So I guess that’s me done with Japan. Next stop Vietnam!
