In Shanghai for a few days, but sadly I’ve picked up a bug travelling. I spent a day in Lijiang sleeping, followed by a night bus to Kunming (which I didn’t really sleep) and a flight from Kunming to Shanghai.
Took Shanghai as a break. Such a contrast from the rest of China. It’s modern and hip, it’s VERY European (at least the area I was staying).
Friday night I hit a Jazz Cafe in the French Concession, Cotton Club - despite it being packed with expats, it was an amazing night; those guys know how to jam! I lost track of time and I doubt the late night of bourbon and coke will sit well with my cold.
The rest of the time I chilled, ate food, saw the Bund and just explored - when I wasn’t in bed dozing or reading Arnie’s Autobiography, which is fantastic by the way.
