Mui Ne

After a day of travelling to and from the Chu-Chi tunnels from Ho Chi Minh in a crammed bus without air conditioning we were not looking forward to the 6 hour bus ride to Mui Ne - beach side town, but it wasn’t all bad; I read a lot of Game of Thrones Book 3 and so before we knew it we were in Mui Ne.

Mui Ne is one of the few places we visited in Vietnam where there were more Russians than there were Germans, English, Dutch and Australians combined.

Mui Ne was our beach stop, it was a chance to relax after a few busy days of travelling around and being active.

We enjoyed some amazing waves.

But the wind was too much to really lay and read our books. My Hemingway got soaked with salty sea water and soiled in sand, so we went hunting for some food.

The rain started to pour as we were eating our mixed seafood BBQ, so we resigned ourselves to sheltering in the restaurant with a few bottles of wine until the rain passed.

Very drunk from some local Vietnamese wine, that was cheap in taste but not price, we jumped into a taxi bound for the train station and the night train to Danang and Hoi An.

The taxi ride was a little weird when my maps on my phone showed us completely off the grid: no roads, no towns, nothing…

This was a part of Vietnam the map company didn’t seem to know existed.

… and we were meant to find a train station out here?

Well, apparently we did.
