Lake Baikal

We arrive in Irkutsk and grab a bus to Listvyanka on Lake Baikal where we are to stay with a local family near the shoreline of the largest freshwater lake in the world!

Lake Baikal

The weather is AMAZING so we enjoy it whilst it lasts. We have beers and Baikal Omul fish for lunch followed by a hike around town and up a large hill for some slightly difficult views of the lake through tiega (birch tree forests).

Joe and Neil Taiga Hiking

We explore some ship wrecks and abandoned buildings along the shoreline before heading back into town and back to the homestay for dinner.

More beers, more vodka, candy floss the size of my head, more vodka, drinking games and more vodka end up an amazing day at lake Baikal!
