We stayed in the hotel Hoa Binh a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Food was on our minds more than anything else so we found a friendly looking cafe to enjoy some local cuisine - the guide book told us to try Cao Lao and so we did; it was spectacular :9
We didn’t have long in Hoi An but we enjoyed walking around the streets and marketplaces. Because of the rain we were resigned to enjoy cocktails in one of the many bars.
We hired bicycles one day to explore further afield, ducking into local restaurants for some food and beer whenever the rain started to pour.
Hoi An doesn’t have much going for it apart from it’s architecture, shopping and high-end restaurants. It’s place to go to spend money and feel at ease. I’d recommend, for another trip, staying in Danang and doing a day trip to Hoi An.
